Light Beings

Light Beings are, in the DMT-Nexus Hyperspace Lexicon's compact description, 'beings entirely made of light. Details like facial expression are often hard to distinguish because of their strong radiance. Always very benign, often connected to the Central Light.' Short as it is, the description captures the phenomenological signature almost exactly as experiencers report it.

The defining feature is not colour, or form, or even scale — Light Beings can appear as small orbs, as roughly humanoid figures, or as vast presences filling the whole visionary field — but substance. They are not merely luminous; they are made of light in the way an ordinary person is made of flesh. This makes them extraordinarily difficult to see in the usual sense: any attempt to focus on a feature is met with more radiance, so the visitor typically reports having interacted with a presence they never actually saw in the resolved way one might see a person.

The emotional register is consistent across reports and across traditions. Light Beings feel benevolent — not neutral, not ambiguous, but actively kind. Their presence is often described as containing love as a physical property, in the same way an ordinary body contains heat. Many experiencers report that time spent with them leaves a lingering afterglow that outlasts the acute experience by hours or days.

The cross-tradition parallels are unmistakable. Angels and other bright presences of Jewish, Christian and Islamic mysticism; the devas and bodhisattvas of Indic traditions; the shining ancestors of many indigenous cosmologies; and the 'beings of light' reported almost universally in the near-death experience literature — all describe encounters whose phenomenology overlaps precisely with what psychonauts describe under the same term. The DMT-Nexus lexicon flags an internal connection too: Light Beings are 'often connected to the Central Light' — a related concept in the lexicon describing the ultimate source of radiance in the hyperspatial field, whose emissaries the Light Beings may be.
